Transportation and Parking
Parking Permits
Parking permits are required for parking at Virginia Tech. Parking permits are sold at the Parking Services Office, located at 455 Tech Center Drive and 130 Student Services Building. Students should bring their Hokie Passports and their vehicle registrations. Payment can be made by using your Visa or Master Card, cash, or Hokie Passport. Permits may also be purchased online using EZ Permit for those who choose to pay with credit card. For rates and information visit Parking Services.
GRADUATE: This permit is available for graduate students living off campus, in Main Campbell, Hillcrest, Donaldson Brown, or Special Purpose Housing. This permit also allows parking in the Commuter section of the Perry Street Lot and Prices Fork Lot (between Perry Street and Prices Fork Road), the left side of the Resident I-Lot (nearest the Vet-Med School at the west end of Washington Street), the Commuter section of C-Lot (Wallace/Litton Reaves), the Track/Field House Lot, the Overflow Lot beyond the golf course at the end of the Duck Pond, Oak Lane lots, and the Stanger Lot (off Turner Street). Commuter permit holders may also park in designated portions of the Coliseum Lot and along Stadium Road (in marked parking spaces), except at specific times as noted in the Football and Basketball Parking Restrictions section of these regulations.
In addition to this, graduate students who qualify for a Graduate Teaching Assistant Permit (see your department for details) are allowed to park in the TA spaces designated by signs in the Prices Fork Lot, Perry Street Lot, and C-Lot. Please get your parking permit during the first week of classes from your department. To see where parking lots are located visit the VT Parking Services' Online Map.
Public Transportation
The town's modern bus system, Blacksburg Transit (BT), provides free transportation to anyone with a Hokie Passport. BT circulates throughout Blacksburg, the Virginia Tech Campus, and to Christiansburg. Schedules and maps will be distributed at Orientation. They may also be found at the Blacksburg Transit website.
The Smart Way Bus is a great option for those without cars when they need to travel into Roanoke. For schedules, visit the Smart Way Bus.
