Seeking Associate Dean Applicants The associate dean will lead academic functions for the Graduate School in the National Capital Region and serve as the Director of the Northern Virginia Center. The incumbent will assist with the further development and implementation of Transformative Graduate Education initiatives (interdisciplinary research and graduate study, civic engagement and citizen scholar, GTA education, ongoing career development, ethics, mentoring and more). In collaboration with the Vice President and Dean of the Graduate School, the Associate Dean for the National Capital Region will share responsibility for promoting academic progress, building academic community, and managing day to day operations of the Northern Virginia Center. The Associate Dean and Director of Northern Virginia Center will: Serve as academic leader to implement vision and goals of the Graduate School in the NCR; Provide leadership for transformative graduate education and liaise with faculty and staff throughout the NCR to enhance graduate education; Implement an effective marketing strategy to recruit students into Virginia Tech graduate programs; Work to improve Graduate School policies and procedures with objective of ensuring that student applications and other documents are efficiently processed; Create strong ties with the NCR Faculty Association to aid in fostering development of a graduate education community; Provide management for efficient day-to-day operations of the Northern Virginia Center, including supervision of assigned administrative faculty and staff; Liaise with Outreach Program Development, the Language and Culture Institute, and Continuing and Professional Education faculty and staff; Liaise with faculty and academic leadership in Blacksburg regarding NCR graduate education, as appropriate; Liaise with the Vice-President and Executive Director of NCR Operations and serve as the principal representative of the Northern Virginia Center to the NCR Senior Management Team; and Evaluate and recommend changes in the operations and structure of the Northern Virginia Center to the Vice President for Graduate Education and Dean of the Graduate School.
