Derrick Bell (2002), author of Ethical Ambition: Living a Life of Meaning and Worth, wrote that “ethics requires us to think deeply about our positions on issues, and to take principled stands as a result of those positions.” (p. 50). Bell writes of power in passion, courage and risk-taking, humility’s wisdom and more. Understanding ethics, undertaking responsible conduct of research & scholarship and engaging in ethical pursuits are important components of graduate education at Virginia Tech. Through this initiative, we plan to provide a forum for lively discussion and scholarly inquiry, as well as access to valuable resources. I hope you will take advantage of these opportunities. We welcome your participation!

“An ethical life is not a life of sacrifice. It is, in fact, a life of riches.” (Bell, 2002, p.177). |
