Integrity demands that all members of the university community and the university itself engage in continual civil discourse and ethical behaviors that advance learning, discovery, and engagement, supported by the administration. Integrity demands maintaining standards of personal and professional behavior of the highest order. VT Core Value
The Graduate School, in partnership with other units, offers leadership, service, and experiential learning opportunities for students that focus on multicultural and international competencies, ethics, and excellence. VT Strategic Plan
On Being a Scientist: Responsible Conduct in Research "Research endeavors are becoming larger, more
complex, and more expensive, creating new kinds of situations
and relationships among researchers." Tackle the questions of how anomalous data should be treated;
how values influence
research; what are the borderlines between honest error, negligent error, and misconduct
in science; and more through case studies.
The Ethics of Teaching: A Casebook "A clear need exists to engage [...] in frank discussions
of the ethical dilemmas that can arise during interactions with students, and such discussions should be coupled with constructive suggestions both for avoiding ethical predicaments and for dealing with them when they occur."
